I currently have a book case similar to this, but fancy a change:

http://www.amazon.com/Tot-Tutors-Book-Primary-Colors/dp/B000IHJF60/ref=zg_bs_3733381_1

I want to be able to have about 15-20 books out at a time that the children can access freely.

What sort of storage have you got? I have limited free wall or floor space!

I was thinking of getting a book case like the one you want a change from! Is there any reason why you want to change, as don't want to get one that doesn't meet mine and mindees requirements?

exactly what i was going to ask !!!! i currently have books on a shelf, and some in a basket and i'm looking to try and reduce the amount of space taken up by books!

( will still have piles of books on the book shelves, but a rotated selection immediately available! )

( i was goingto get the similar book case from argos, but a friend bought it and returned it, it was dreadful! so now looking at spending a bit more via amazon! )

I have two children's stools from Ikea that someone posted about on here and they're great - they hold quite a few books, are fairly stable and easy for the children to access.

How about a kinderbox, Lauras is selling one here

It's fine with bigger paperback books, but not so good for smaller board books. As I mainly mind 1 yr olds, the free access books are all board ones. They're smaller than the height of each sling so disappear down below the batons that hold each sling in place.

I've switched today to putting the board books in a basket, so will see how that goes

Yes I have similar problem with trying to display smaller books, have been looking for a sturdy but not too deep basket - but seem to cost alot of money, am keeping an eye out in charity shops.

Do you have a TK MAxx near you? I got some lovely baskets there for a reasonable price.

I got a lovely basket from dunelm mill which is about a4 size at the bottom, bigger at the top and holds about thirty books (like this but different colour http://www.dunelm-mill.com/shop/chestnut-lined-bread-basket-156970). I also have some of the less sturdy books on a windowledge.

I like these baskets though, the books would stand up nicely and the children could leaf through them: http://www.basketwaredirect.co.uk/basketware/shop-display-baskets/shopping-baskets/farm-shop-display-basket-set-3.html

The rest of our books (maybe 2000+ books, I love books) live in the kids rooms on great big bookcases. Would love the room to have them all downstairs but it's not going to happen.

I currently just put a bunch on the coffee table each day for the kids to access there.

I also have some banana boxes for use with my books, my cloths for den building, and my blocks. They just stack up in a little alcove under my stairs, they are sturdy, they don't tip easily and they are free, and easily replaced on my weekly shop. The kids painted them up one day as they chose.

I've got the 'Tidy Books' bookcase which takes up similar depth to the sling posted but is taller. I love it mostly though it does need fixing to the wall as the top shelf takes the biggest books. The middle shelf is only good for small board books. http://www.tidy-books.com/
I got mine from amazon

I have a 'big book little book cardboard box' and it's brilliant. It holds LOADS of books and is really strong (I've caught my daughter standing on the edge and it didn't even bend). It doesn't take up much space and the children can flick through the books without having to take them all out. You can order them online: http://http://bigbooklittlebookcardboardbox.co.uk/ (http://bigbooklittlebookcardboardbox.co.uk/). Hope this helps :)

I've been following this thread with interest as I have the same problem. Of all the solutions I think this one is the best so I'm going to order 2 when I get some cash and will update with how I found them.

Has anyone else bought from the attached links from others?

I've been looking at these too, as nothing else seems as suitable for the smaller board books!
