Hiya,

I understand that a four year old who attends full time school can be included in your 5-8 age range but what about a three year who attends full time school?

I have had an enquiry for three school children, twins who are soon to be 4, who will be starting school nursery next week and their older brother, who is 4, almost 5. As I will only be having these children out of school hours, I was hoping that they all would be able to be classed as 5?

Would this be the case?

Thanks,

Children must be in full time 10 sessions a week school (not nursery etc) as defined by the Childcare Act to be classed as rising 5.

It's a school nursery the twins will be attending, so will be 10 sessions a week?

Do I need to wait until they are 4, to class them as 5?

Yes they are in reception class full time (not settling in) before they are 5 for the ratios.

it's not just about them being elsewhere for most of the day - it's also about age and expected level of maturity.

They have to be attending 10 sessions in the reception year at school. School nursery doesn't count I'm afraid, even when they are 4
