Friday the 13 and I am lucky!!!!

Sorry in advance, as i have posted this in the Lounge under Angels' Friday the 13th thread, but just in case no one has read it ...and because I am so excited about it and because I have had too many Bacardi's here goes.......


Friday the 13th has gone well for me!!!

I have had one woman I know from playschool saying she didn't realise I was a childminder and she is really interested in me having her 2..... and she only lives across the road, which I just found out about!

Then only 5 mins later a childminder came over to me and introduced herself and said that she has been looking for someone all week to help a parent who needs childcare for 2 kiddies and they can't find anyone, until they realised I was newly registered!
It's such a good earner! The Job Center are paying 80% and cos the mum has to got to travel to the next town on the bus I will be responsible for the kids while they are at school and pre-school so I can ask for full fees! (that's what the childminder says)
So money for doing nothing, but taking and picking up. I am ashamed to say I am excited about that prospect! You don't these opportunities very often. (and cos the mum is only having to pay 20% of the fees I am not too worried) It's strange to find out how much the Job Centre are willing to pay for someone to go out to work!
I am just waiting for her phone call, apparently she needs me for Monday. We will have to wait and see.... Please cross your fingers for me that she rings :) xx

That's it everyone, keep hoping for me!!

I am gonna give the childminder a call, who was going to give her my number to see what the parent said to her about it.

I will do it tomorrow. Do u think that will be ok to ring on a sunday?

I said to hubby, that you never know, she may be giving it another week before she starts her new job, due to not finding a childminder and it being short notice, but hubby says she would have still rung by now!

Problem with parents is while us childminders are jumping around thinking something is urgent the parent generally doesn't think it is urgent and waits til the last minute to call.

I have just gotten off the phone to the parent.

I couldn't help in the end, as the playschool run would clash with my mindee and my own child, so it would mean her son would be 10 mins late for playgroup.


She also didn't seem to like the idea of me having to pick her son up from playschool and then an hour later go out and take my own daughter to playschool - I said it should be ok as he will be in the buggy.

It would also take up my last under 5 space, and not being rude about the parent but I get the impression I just wouldn't click with her, especially after she was moaning on about the other childminder she was looking into using.

Never mind though, there will be plenty more opportunities for me yet, I am sure.
