Thanks everyone for your encouragement on Monday after I said no to my first proper enquiry.

You really cheered me up and convinced me that I had done the right thing although I've had moments of regret and even rang the mum to say I'd changed my mind - thankfully she wasn't there.

I had another enquiry today - from a teacher who wants someone from September for her 2 year old boy and her 4 year old daughter. They are both in nursery at the moment and the little girl starts school so she needs a childmiinder for after school and full-time for her little boy.

The only thing is her daughter will be at a different school to my DD but the village is 10 minutes drive from here and her school finished 15 minutes after DD. Going to have a drive over there tomorrow to time it and ring her tomorrow night.

I now feel happy that I said 'no' on Monday.

Fingers crossed.

I've always felt things happen for a reason...

Talk to the school - I'm sure they will be happy to hold onto children a few minutes if you're late...

I collect from different schools and it's never been a problem.

Good luck! :D

Well I timed the route this morning and despite getting stuck by a lorry it took me 9 minutes to get there!

Thanks Sarah for saying talk to the school. I should know as an ex teacher myself, that most schools are quite happy to hang onto a child for an extra 5 minutes as long as they know.

Just hope my DD doesn't end up in Mrs S's class next year as they are regularly out late!

Anyway going to ring the mum this evening and see what she says. She won't want me until September but I've possibly got work over the holidays as my friend cm is expecting end of August and has asked me if I will do emergency cover over the holidays for her after school children - two 5 yr old girls (my DDs best friends) and an 8 yr old girl (the big sister).
