Hi and goodmorning to everyone :)

Just wondering how many of you charge an overtime rate for extra hours over the contracted hours?

If I do extra it's just an odd hour or half hour while Mum goes to a meeting so I charge my usual rate. But if they weren't teahcers and there was the possibility of overtime being antisocial hours I'd think about upping it a bit

Hello,
My unsocial hours (weekends & after hours times) rate is time & 1/2...but if the overtime falls between 8am & 6pm I charge my usual hourly rate. Bank holidays are at my descretion and charged at double time ...if i choose NOT to work usual full fee is charged.:)

Normal rate for normal hours. Double rate for unsocial hours.

Most of mine pay for a full day even though some collect between 4:30 and 5:15 pm. As they are paying for a full day anyway they can collect later at no extra charge as long as they collect before 6 pm.

And if people ask in advance, I will agree extra hours during social hours at the normal rate - "mutually agreed additional hours" or £2 per 15 mins before 8 am/after 6 pm.

But those that turn up after the contracted collection time get charged £5 per 15 mins or part thereof, per child. "emergency overtime rate"

I charge an set fee for non-contracted hours so yes i do charge an overtime rate.

I don't work bank holidays but i don't charge for them either, should i be charging for bank holidays?

should i be charging for bank holidays?

I don't because I don't want to work them... if you charge then you have to be available to work :D

I charge for bank holidays and no i dont work them but if i were asked to work it i would charge double fee, most childminders in my area do this.

hi looking at the poll
it looks like most of you are in favor of charging the normal hourly rate for overtime :D

It depends. One of my parents needs the flexibility due to her job, so anything over my normal working hours I charge her normal rates.
I have told the other parents that as long as they give me 48 hours notice that they will be running late, than again I will charge normal rate. If they don't then I charge an extra £5 on top of normal rate for every half hour.

I would, in theory, do bank holidays and the occasional weekend but this would be nearly triple my normal fee's.

My charges depend on when the extra hours fall. During normal working hours its the normal hourly rate, after that it goes up.
