Pity he didn't go one step further and say that childminders do provide quality childcare at affordable prices - it is the nurseries who are charging a fortune, which gives these surveys a high average cost.

If people want to lower their childcare costs they should use registered childminders.

Did anyone see that "babies in the office" stupid programme on BBC2 last night - why should we as childminders have to jump through ever higher, smaller Ofsted hoops when any idiot can be a parent! Mothers were trying to work in call centre environment with babies on their laps screaming or trying to shove bottles and dummies in kids mouths to keep them quiet - how is that providing a loving, stimulating environment, looked more like return of Romanian orphanages. At end of programme the bosses decided the months experiment had been a success but that they would provide a nursery for children over 12 months!
