Would appreciate your views... 2 different approaches to securing future places.

I have a family paying a monthly retainer to secure a place for January. Both myself and family are happy with this, even though I know things could change. I only have 1 full time place and this is it.

I then have 2 families (of which it will be either/or, basically first to sign) for after school/school hols places in Sept. Now as I have technically more than one school place (although I only want to fill one) I was planning on asking for a retainer until Sept but then offset that against Sept fees.

But they are two are very different approaches! but I think I'm right.

The way I see it, is I could never hold a January place for January with just a deposit and I couldn't offset so that has to work like that. But the Sept ones, with other spaces being available, should be offset.

Am I making sense? does this make sense? is this kind of right?

What you are proposing is absolutely fine. Its up to you how you want parents to 'reserve' their space and your reasoning makes a lot of sense.
