I'm getting a mindee during the summer and then have more in Sept. How do you go about bringing in the information about what to do if there's a fire; how do you explain a fire drill; and how do you practise it?

Some advice you be great, thanks

All depends on the age of the children.
With new ones I normally talk about fire safety first and then about what we'd do if there was a fire, and then explain that I have smoke alarms...then I'd show them how they sounded and explain that sometimes we practice how we'd get out of the house if there was a fire. I'd then do a fire drill a few days later while it's still fresh in the child's head.
I normally do them every 3 months

I usually go 'dingalingaling the fire bell is going off what do we do now children?' and let them tell me...

Then correct them gently if they get it wrong and walk them outside through whichever door is nearest :D
