Hi
If a parent wants to reduce hours and they give me notice to do so, if I don't want to accept the reduced hours can I give notice for that reason? I'm assuming I can.

Yes you can. The best way to explain it is that you cannot afford a drop in income and need to fill the space fully.

Thank you. This parent has already changed hours once and has just told me they need to reduce hours come September. I've only had the child for 5 months and I don't want to accept any less hours.
Thank you.

That is fair enough. I think I would feel the same. I know these things happen but we are limited in our earning potential by our numbers and two reductions of hours in 5 months can make a big impact :(

i would tell them that you need to take on children with more hours but that you would be happy to continue until such time as you find another child and you will then give them notice so that they are aware

I recently told one parent who wanted to reduce hours again (twice since Sept), that I have a minimum hours charge of 7 hours - which I didn't tell her about before when kids started as it was originally for 10 hours a day, so didn't apply.

You can yes, but if they only want to reduce the hours from September I would say that you will carry on until then (unless you want rid quicker) which gives them ample time to find alternative care and you a chance to fill their vacancy.

Thanks. It's not so bad I want to cut out my schoolies anyway although the little boy is lovely.
