cheeky question?

I am changing my car from a three door to a five door as its very awquard (however you spell it lol) getting the kids into the car seats in the back. If the new car is gonna cost more can i claim for this extra.:rolleyes:

Not as such no it is 45p per mile whatever you drive, Smart car or mini bus. However if you have a car loan you can also claim the interest on the loan as an expense.

You can now you have bought a new car decide if you want to deprecate the value of the car instead of claiming the 45p per mile.

You don't have to decide until the end of the tax year and what you do is keep a record of the miles and what you could claim. Keep a record of the costs of the car so insurance, tax, servicing, oil, screenwash, new tyres etc etc. You would need to ask asvise as to how you write off the value of the car over how long and then see which is best for you.
