Red Ants

I think I have a red ant nest in one of my flower beds. I know they bite but does anyone know if it causes allergic reactions? Do I need to get rid? Any ideas how? It is in an area of the garden that the LO's use.

I had a large red ants nest in the middle of my front lawn. I bought some stuff from home base. I hate killing things but it really was a pain when mowing and when the kids run over it.

The ant killer I bought is like granules of sugar that they are attracted to and they take it down their nest to feed as they think it's sugar. This way it kills from the bottom of the nest instead of just the ants on top.
I'm not sure if it's safe with kids but I made sure I did it on a Friday after work and by Monday morning they were all gone.

Poor little chaps ( I've watched the Ant Bully and it makes me very sensitive) lol
