.. whether I made it through the first round of selection to become a Specialist Early Years Professional!

The board met today to discuss the written applications and they said they would contact successful applicants in June to arrange an inspection. Not sure if it will be by email, phone or letter so just waiting now to hear! Fingers crossed!

Very excited:clapping::clapping::clapping:

I just the email to say I'd made it through the first round! Two assessors are coming to inspect me in 3 weeks time when i need to demonstrate 'my expertise'!! Not sure what that means but i'm very excited!!!

Wow, great, well done - erm, what is a specialist EYP exactly and what do you do? Sorry! What specialism have you declared yourself for?

Did they give a clue what you have to demonstrate?

The idea is that there will be a number of specialist EYPs in the county each with their own specialism. All practitioners will be able to access the list of specialist EYPs and contact them for support. They can visit, phone, email etc and get help and advice concerning their specialist area!

I have applied to become a specialist in 'Enabling Environments' so hopefully will be able to offer support and guidance around resourcing, activity planning, room design etc plus they were keen to make it clear that I am a childminder as there aren't many childminders with EYPS around.

I don't know what the inspection will incorporate yet. I guess they'll expect me to show how I would support another practitioner, showing ideas etc and quiz me on my knowledge of the area. I emailed back to confirm the date they offered me for my inspection and asked for a bit of further guidance so we'll see what they say!
