View Full Version : Converting garage to play room

Good morning everyone. Could someone please tell me if I have garage converted to a play room, do I need OFSTED to come and give it the ok before it can become operational. Thanks in advance.:)

The do not usually come out anymore. You will need to notify them that you are having work done on your house along with a copy of the plans and your Risk Assessments for keeping the children safe while the work is going on. How long the work will take.

Then when the work is complete send Risk Assessments for the new area and I sent photos of my extension, and ask for the new area to be registered for childminding use.

When I had mine done last year I did the following:
-Notified Ofsted by mail/Email with full risk assessment for while work was being done
- Risk Assesment for the room when complete
- New fire evacuation plan
- Plans
- Measurements of the room

They said as the garage was not mentioned on my certificate that I did not need a new certificate and could go ahead with using the room.

Make sure you let your mortgage company know you are having it done and send them the buildings inspection certificate to go with your deeds.
