Hi I have a little playhouse in the garden but want to create a little more space to play/create if raining. Anybody got an awning or gazebo that they use? Does it get used a lot?

I've got a sunshade that I bought from Ikea - have it over the patio in summer. It was quite cheap and it's UV protected.

We've got a gazebo which we put up a couple of weeks ago when we had some lovely weather. We put it up over the childrens slides and table. It does also protect some what against the rain too. However I can confirm it does not withstand gale force winds like we had last week. I told OH to take it down but he was sure it would be ok because it was protected by the tall hedges. 11pm that night the gazebo was stuck fast in the hedge and he was out in the dark and rain wrestling with it to try and get it out

We had a large decked area which my dad has built a roof over top with Plastic sheets. Then we have a Long side off a Large party tent on the side so that it is enclosed. Great all year round although can get hot in the summer. My mum is in the process of making materal blinds to fit each roof section. Our lawn can get pretty boggy when its rained so we can block it off and the children still have a large area to play in.

That's what I would like but not possible so looking for an alternative solution!

Would love to have an awning but imagine would be quite pricy.we don't know if to put conservatory on or move when we can afford it. so think will be on a wish list for now.

I've got two pop up gazebos with sides, I can get them up and down by myself (easier with two) I don't leave them up at night.

Just had a thought a second hand frame tent would work better than a gazebo as they are more solid and built for the weather.

we have a patio area a step up from the rest of the block paved garden which I would like a 'roof' of some sort for, I was thinking material untill we had the high winds this week! Now I am thinking some sort of permanent wooden fixture,, OH is a carpenter, somthing I am sure he regrets when I get ideas ,,, thinking of getting him to cover the area but will need to save up first !

Its worth it. We use ours all year round. And its not just used for minding. We had a bonfire bbq party in November and and the jubilee weekend it came in very handy as it rained on the Tuesday when we had a tea party with our family. Also a great place to store the pushchairs :clapping:

Wow! What a fab idea! I have a similar sized decking and it feels wasted. Thank you for sharing.

Can you not remove the side panels to make it cooler in summer?

Bridey yes the side can be removed. Its just sttached with bungees. The centre section unziips too so when its really nice we open it up so we cn see them. Its still very warm with out the side panel.

Pillows ita about 30ft long by 13ft wide. Runs the whole length of our house One side is a 6ft fence and the other a 8ft hedge so very sheltered. Also have a bbq area the end the photo has been taken from.
