The funding for over 3s - how does it work?

Can mum send her dd to a nursery for 1 full day and claim some of the free hours and lose the rest? Or does she have to take all the hours?
She's thinking of sending her 8-6 for 1 day only but she won't get the whole 10hrs free will she?

you can have 15 hours free and unless im mistaken you don't have to use them all in the same day you can spread them over the week

When is she going?, the rules are changing for September, best contact you local authority to see if they are changing to new rules because under them she could take the full 10 hours but not under current ones.

I'm hoping she can take them over 1x10hr day at nursery so I don't lose her for two days :(
Also a preschool over 3 days would be a problem as I'd have to drop off and pick up so my morning would involve a 10-15min walk down to school followed by a 20min walk to preschool followed by another 10min walk into town for toddler group afterwards and the preschool walk would be for £3.50 which for all the walking hardly seems worth it.

At the moment in our area parents have to take the 15 hours over a minimum of 3 days no more than 6 hours per day.

But as someone mentioned this may change after September.
