We are planning on getting a Vauxhall Zafira 7 seater. It is being brought as a family car but may be used as a childminding car for the odd day out. It will be the first car since having our own children and so also the first car we have used for childminding.

Do i need to inform OFSTED we have a car?
Do we need special childminder insurance ?
Do i have to buy special car seats or do all car seats fit all car's?

Anything else i need to think about before starting to use it

Thank you for any help, its all a bit new to use at the moment.

hi :) am not sure if you need to let ofsted know as i already had mine and the details to hand when she came out but yes you must inform your car insurance that you are using this for childminding

car seats you will need but some parents are willing to let you use their car seats worth an ask :)

We have a Zafira. Very hard to find seats that fit so even if the parents did supply car seats they may not fit safely.

We have bought 3 Britax Prince seats that fit perfectly.

You will need business insurance for childminding.

I didn't inform Ofsted, never crossed my mind to be honest as we did already have a car that was insured for me and childminding.

As for car seats you'll need to try them in the car to see if they fit, not all seats fit all cars.

Enjoy your Zafira, I loved mine
