View Full Version : What to include on my self assessment for 2011/12?

Hi

I became registered May 16th 2012, however I have incurred a number of costs prior to then, as far back as December 2011.

Can I claim all the costs together in the 2012/13 self assessment or do I need to put some of the costs through now (2011/12 self assessment)?

I would prefer to 'start' my business in this tax year. What is the best thing to do?

Also presently I am still employed (on mat leave), I am receiving SMP, so I still need to be putting aside £2.50 a week for NI?

If you started work in May 12 (now) then you can take this as your start up date. Just keep all your back dated receipts and enter them in your first working week

As Debbie says, the start-up expenses go in 2012/13.

You will only have to pay the £2.65pw (it has gone up) from the date you register as self employed.
