NCMA members should have received this by email, but thought I would post to encourage non members.

We are writing to ask if you have completed the online survey to tell us what you value about the current inspection and regulation system in England. This is an important part of the Individual Inspection Matters Campaign because it is crucial that we capture the voice of childminders in England so we can represent you to Government.

Since we launched our Individual Inspection Matters campaign, almost 3,500 childminders have given their views. Overall, the feedback has been almost unanimous support for independent , individual inspection that Ofsted provides and the level-playing field that the EYFS delivers. We have been sharing interim findings with No. 10, Ofsted, the Department for Education and the media over the last two weeks.

Please fill in the survey and encourage all childminders that you know to do the same – regardless of NCMA membership – as this is open to every childminder in England.

It will only take you between 5 – 10 minutes. Our voice will be stronger together.

Alongside completing the survey, many members have already written to their local MP as well as relevant Ministers, to raise their concerns about Government changing childminding regulation. To those of you who have already done so, thank you. If you have yet to do so, we hope you may find a few minutes over the Bank Holiday to put pen to paper.

The Individual Inspection Matters Campaign pack features an update on the current policy debate around childminding regulation, an overview of NCMAs action plan, a “who and how” guide to support members to write to local councillors and local MPs and an outline of further steps you can take to add impact to the campaign.

You can have a look at what other childminders are writing. We know that personal letters from constituents remain a very effective way of ensuring MPs pay attention to an issue. So we need to keep up the momentum on this aspect of the campaign. We have heard from members who have meetings scheduled with Vince Cable, the Business Secretary; Ed Balls, Shadow Chancellor; and Oliver Letwin MP, who is leading the Government’s red tape challenge. If you are able to, please also talk to other members about this issue and encourage them to do the same.

THANK YOU for adding your voice to the Individual Inspection Matters campaign.

The survey closes at midnight on Sunday 10th June. Don’t miss this chance to tell us what you think.

With best wishes
