Please could someone let me know the rules on having visitors while childminding? I would like to know if other childminding friends can visit your home with their minded children and does this have any affect on your numbers for space reasons?? Is it ok if your to maximum capacity but have your friend round with their minded children also for a play day??

There are no rules except your common sense. I would have gone nutty during 18 nearly 19 years of minding if I had never been allowed a friend round.

I will quite often have a friend over for a coffee or lunch or go to a friends house. I live in my own home and chose to childmind so I could stay at home with my own children. I think it is good for the children to see other people sometimes and socialise.

I regularly get together with other childminders either at my home or theirs with the children. I think it's great for the children to socialise and, as we provide emergency cover foe one another it means the children are familiar with us and our homes.

If you are ever worried about whether someone should or should not come into your house while you are minding, give Ofsted a quick ring and check -

But as Ricky and Miffy say friends are welcome... as long as they bring cakes :D
