I'm not especially obsessive about tidiness, but constantly sorting out puzzle pieces is driving me nuts. I'm thinking I'll take all the "older" child puzzles away, as the little ones are always tipping them out, but even the wooden puzzles are always getting tipped out and muddled up. Does anyone have any good ideas how to store them so they can be seen and chosen but kept separate and only got out one or two at a time? I can only think of things like tupperware boxes but they would cost more than the puzzles (I must have about thirty!)

I use zip top clear plastic wallets. You can buy them from stationery stores.

Something like these

I've seen a nursery have each puzzle in a clear ziplock bag that hangs onto a rail. Not ideal to have plastic bags with littlies though so maybe use some large clear plastic make up wash bags. Then only 1 puzzle out at a time.

Mine are just put in a drawer, mindees aren't really interested in them so we don't get them out very often and when we do I choose 2 or 3 out at a time on the table.

I've just got the zip up plastic wallets too - I was at a group and the puzzles were stored in these with the top of the box in the wallet but not the whole box so everything fit beautifully and more difficult to tip all over the place!

Yes plastic wallets, and on the back of a completed jigsaw I label every piece with 1, the next jigsaw is all number 2, the next 3 etc that way if there is a bit left over you can easily pop it in the correct plastic wallet.

i use those too, or the ones with a plastic popper. but not all puzzles fit in them! i then have all the puzzles in a book box so they can self select! however, i STILL have one LO who manages to tip them all up and out! :(

i also put all the pieces for the bigger puzzles in zip lock bags inside the boxes!

also take a pic of it complete laminate and use velcro to stick it to front of folder it means you can use any folder but also put it back without doing it and also the kids have that to choose and help put it together

I use plastic wallets if the box is battered or missing.

I love this idea mum22

My you are all so organised.

I have my wooden ones in a Trofast box and the smaller ones can self select. They are just stacked in a deep box and the pieces do fall to the bottom but is't not that much of a problem, it only takes five mins to sort out when needed.

The bigger puzzles in boxes are all stacked in a lo cupboard in my hall where the older children can get them but the little ones can't.
