Not whilst in my care fortunately but...

M who I have Tues and Thurs has just been rushed off in an ambulance because she is having trouble breathing :(

I feel ill I am so worried.

They live 5 doors away and Mum text me for advice as M couldnt breathe so I popped round and she was really struggling bless her so we called an ambulance and they have taken her straight in on oxygen.

She is 5 days older than Ella and I have known her since she was born.

I wish I could of gone too but I have a mindee here until 5.15pm.

oh you poor thing, you must be worried sick, have a cup of tea and sit down. i'm sure the mum will let you know how shes going.
Had she been ill or was it out of the blue?

Nope, just out of the blue.

She was fine this morning as Mum rung and asked me to have her for 3 hours this afternoon as she was getting her hair done. She would never of done that if M was poorly.

berkschick
02-06-2008, 03:19 PM
No, no news yet.

Mum and Dad mobiles are turned off so they must still be at the hospital.

Poor mite, I think it is asthma too. She has never shown signs of it before but my eldest DD has it quite badly and I saw similarities.

Will keep you posted.

Thanks all

Dad has just called.

They thought she had something stuck in her throat but they did an x-ray and couldnt see anything so now they think she has had an allergic reaction to something but they dont know what.

They havent decided if they are keeping her in overnight or not yet as apparently her lungs are fine so she will get better on her own

Dad said they will be in touch again later to let me know. I am meant to have her tomorrow, not too sure how I feel about this to be honest :(

I know i'd be feeling nervous about having her tomorrow. glad she is ok now. hope they can find out if it's an allergy and what to. if I were you i'd just feed her exactly what she's had with you before.

Fortunately, I dont provide any of her food. She does have a lot of peanut butter so I am wondering if it is a nut allergy?? But then she has had oit before.

I am hoping MUm keeps her home tomorrow though TBH.

sorry to here this poor thing

Allergies can come at any time, even if been okay before, this is why they don't recommend it before 5 years (as in nuts ect.)

I would say no for tomorrow TBH and would be surprised if after todays events if the parent still would go to work:o

sending you big hugs xxxxxxxx

Sorry, just catching up.

How frightening for everyone.

It is so frustrating when the hospital can't find the cause of a something like this. I hope they are going to investigate further and not just 'wait and see if it happens again!'

I hope she recovers quickly.
I would want the little girl to stay home for a few days before I minded her again if it was me. She must have been so terrified. :panic:

I think I would say no for tomorrow too, just to give her time to recover. Hope she gets well soon.

I think Mum will keep her home tomorrow. She is a Mummy Mum and not a career driven person IYSWIM. M is only 21 months :(

It has always worried me the nut thing so young but it wasnt me providing it. DH had a reaction to a snickers bar 2 years ago, he had been fine for 31 years before that!

I have a nut allergy, I didn't develop it until I was 29. I struggle to breathe if I had nuts or traces of nuts. It's very scary.

Between the ages of 13 and 20 and had a real bad allergy to strawberries, just seem to dissapear when I was pregnant and had a craving for strawberries that I gave in to! they were yummy and I've been able to eat them ever since.

I've only just come on here too. Sorry to hear about your mindee, glad they know what it is now and that she is on the mend. Tonsilitis seems to be getting really bad at the moment, I've heard of a few people recently who have been hospitalised with it, but none as young as your mindee. It must have been really scary for her.
Hope she feels much better soon

You must have been so worried. It happened to us with my own daughter last month. Rushed to A&E in the middle of night because she can't breath (she is only 8 months old). We stayed 2 days (her on oxygen for a day) and the doctors told us 'wait and see if it happens again, we can't diagnose asthma before they are 3!!' Still she now has an inhaler!

Anyway, they must be so relieved it is Tonsilitis and nothing like a life condition (ie allergies, asthma...).
Glad she will be ok!!

Just catching up. I am glad that they know what it is now and can treat it. I also know some people who have had very severe tonsilitis recently. Nasty shock for everyone. Hope she gets better soon.
