I was advised by my do that Ofsted like us all to sit down together to eat. We do this but more and more I have started reading to them as we eat, or watching the three little pigs on my iPhone ( traditional story teller app 89p fab!)
My question is would mrs o disapprove of this!
The reason I do it is it settles them to their food and seems like a
good opportunity to do a bit of group reading. This has just evolved in my practise; it was never a deliberate plan. But more and more we have mealtime and snack favourite books in a book unit that lives on the kitchen table ( we have a massive ex library table)
Any thoughts?

Personally I wouldn't do it as I like mealtimes to be a time when we all sit together and chat without distractions. It can get noisy if the children all have a lot to say, but it's one time in the day when we're all together.

We have our story time afterwards.

But if it works for you I can't see why ofsted would object to you reading a story. I don't think I'd use an iPhone though as I wouldn't want the children watching something. To me that's too much like having the tv on at mealtimes.

Thanks - good point about the tv.
