    Default Sugar Water patterns

This is a quick and easy Art activity.

Dissolve 5 tsps of Icing Sugar in 125ml of warm water.
(I'd run out of icing sugar so used caster sugar instead and it worked just as well)
Paint the sugar water all over a sheet of paper (white works best).
Use coloured inks/food colouring or runny paints to drip onto the wet paper.

Watch as they mix together to form lovely patterns.

Leave on a flat surface to dry

Ive spent the last hour trying to do this and nothing is happening, what am i doing wrong?! Mixing 5 teaspoons into warm water then painting onto white paper then dripping paint on.
Am i meant to leave paper to dry first? Should it be more sugar? Thanks x
