'Pets at Home' - free workshops

Just come back from a lovely afternoon at 'Pets at Home' - pet shop chain incase you didn't know. They are running free workshops throughout the holidays for kids. They last an hour - children must be accompanied by an adult (and vice versa!). Today we handled rabbits, guinnea pigs, hamsters, rats, gerbils, degus (sp?). Later on in the holidays we are going to one called 'Fins and Scales' where they will get out reptiles and talk about the fish there. They didn't do a sales pitch or anything. Took loads of photos.

You just book online at their website (don't know website off by heart, jus googled 'Pets at Home').

:-) sounds good. And lots of fun ;-) I ALWAYS have to have a cuddle of any animal mine are 'holding' :-)

I've seen them advertised and thought about going, but our nearest pets at home is about an hour away !

Thank you but I think it's one we will give a miss too else knowing me I will come home with another pet. I still want a chinchilla named Godzuki 😂😂😆

Yes Fussy, it is very tempting!

DD and her friend have been designing cat toys and cat baskets ever since we got back. Hence me having the time to get on here!

We adopted two little boy Guinea Pigs last October for Childminding and it is one of the best things I have done.

The children adore them and they love cuddles from the children. They help cut up the veg and fill the nugget bowl and give them Hay. they know what they eat and what they don't and check their water and tell me when they need more.

They were all sad when one was ill and watched when I gave him his medicine and gave him strokes for being so good. It is lovely.

Bubble and Squeak are really a big part of us now.

Mine are a huge part of our lives too. It was lovely last week at local show when all the mindees (who were there with family as I took day off) came to find/see/show the piggies off. One of the judges said it was clear why the piggies were so calm and relaxed with being held and all the hubbub!

I hate the fact that we don't have pets, well, apart from fish. If we move into a house I have said we will have guinea pigs. DD was really put out when her school decided that their reception classes would have a class pet - just as she was moving to year 1! I would have loved her to go to a childminder with pets.

I have to say I am bias! They are dear boys and so good with the children.

I was so upset when Squeak was ill I slept on the sofa bed in the playroom (they are indoor piggies) all night

What a shame for your daughter.

My Piggies are in a large cage on a table so all their bits go in a large lidded box underneath. I then have a run with a bottom on it which I put puppy pads and fleece on the bottom and they are in the dining room but can have a bit more space for a run around but the run packs up really small.

We show at local village & district country shows (nearly every village has one round here)
When I get on pc I'll put a couple of photos. Last show we got first and third :-)

Mine live inside in the playroom during the winter with an indoor run that takes up the whole playroom, so it only comes out at weekends. During the summer they have an outdoor hutch and run.
