Is there a service that can send me planning and supplies on a regular basis?

Hi All,
I was hoping to find a service where they know the ages of the children you look after, and they supply you with monthly/daily plans, with activities with the various adaptations for your ages, with the materials you need for the crafts etc, with a way to record the relevant observations... basically where they do everything for you!!! all that on a monthly basis maybe (regularly anyway). I know there is a lot on the internet that you can print etc, but it would be so nice if I didn't have to look for stuff, if it arrived directly to me including the supplies, all age appropriate... Any suggestions? Would love to hear! Thanks!

It will be more appropriate to do your own planning as someone else won't know your children.

You have to plan for the child's individual needs and interests. You don't have to have written planning. I do mine in my head and then make notes in my diary when we have done it.

Like others have said, your planning should be based on the children's individual development and next steps, not on their age. I'm not sure how anyone could know what your children were doing or what their interests were in a particular week to enable them to send you activities.

Sounds like a good idea in theory, but I'm not sure how it work work in practice. I don't think I'd like the idea of having to do a particular activity on a particular day. The joy of being self employed is that you chose what you want to do, not have someone else tell you what to do when. I'm sure it may suit some people, so there could be a business idea out there for someone

My memory bank has reminded me that there was something that did this. My youngest us now 9, and it was probably around the time when she was 3 !! I think it sent activities each week based upon their age. This was when the eyfs was new!!! I probably would have heard about it from here.

When the national literacy and numeracy strategy came in 100's of publishers and Internet sites produced what you are requesting. Lots of schools followed them too. .............until, like others have said, it dawned on everyone that each child / group is an individual so you cannot possibly produce a curriculum fits all, week by week.

The current issue I have is that childminders are being assessed on the same level as nursery school teachers now, yet the same amount of training / qualification is not necessary prior to becoming a childminder. Which leads childminders feeling vulnerable.
To lead a preschool or nursery whether it is private or part of LEA you need to have level3+ qualifications and in schools there has to be a qualified teacher, yet new childminders are still being registered with, in my LEA 3 days information giving days, not assessed days and a 2 hour visit from an inspector where you can ask on social media advice and virtually get all the answers to regurgitate on the day, no assessment of interaction with children until a year later, with no requirement to have any ongoing assessment in between.No previous experience is necessary either. A newly qualified teacher in a nursery would have at least monthly observations on her practise with follow up discussions and her daily observations would be scrutinised alongside her progress statistics on her half termly pupil progress meetings. This is after either 3 years or one intense year of scrutinised lessons and knowledge judged by research and essay, presentations and dissatatations about how children learn, creating a learning environment, planning for learning etc...

When criteria changes, there is always a transitional period where experience is equal to training qualifications, but new people to the industry usually have to have the training so that they can meet the criteria running so that in their initial stages of working nothing suffers, i.e in education - children get as good a deal as someone with experience because the training has been intense and deep enough. Given that it is expected that childminders are teachers foremost you would think that every new childminder has the knowledge of the curriculum, experience of working with individuals and groups of children and assessed observations that informs next steps, that they can interact with children in a way that enables a child to learn and progress rapidly. Sadly the minimal requirements to be a childminder doesn't ask for this depth.

Even if there was something it wouldn't save you that much time. You would still have to sit and read through the activity plan. Even if they sent the resources you would still have to prepare them and set them out/clear them up. Sometimes what they sent you wouldn't appeal to you and even if it did - there's absolutely no guarantee that the children would click with it - they might spend less than a minute on it! Then all of your money would be wasted. Planning for individual children is the fun part of this job.

Is it coming up with ideas that you are finding difficult or filling out planning sheets/paperwork? Maybe the activities you are currently planning are requiring too many resources and too much preparation and that is eating into your time.
