Baking
Good evening.
I am new to the forum.
I started childminding 6 weeks ago.
My question is, even though i haven't done my refresher for food handling course yet am i able to do baking with the children or is this a no go as i can't find anything online?
Thanks
Francesca

Childminders | food.gov.uk
You do not need to do a Food Hygiene course. All you need to know is in the Safer Food Better Business for Childminders booklet.
Near the bottom of the link it says:
Food hygiene courses
Courses are available from various training providers. However, there is no requirement for food handlers to attend formal courses or to acquire food hygiene qualifications. It is important that food handlers have adequate knowledge to prepare and supply food that is safe to eat.

When I registered as a CM, we were required to self-register as a food business with our local Environmental Health Officer. IIUC, newly-registered CMs these days are registered with EHO by Ofsted.
You should check your local EHO's local requirements/expectations. Mine expected us to do a class-based level 2 certificate in food hygiene (CIEH-approved) when setting up. They like us to refresh this every 3 years, but will accept an online course as a refresher. However, this is a recommnedation rather than a requirement of our EHO. They may mark us down if training isn't up to date, but only insist on training if they feel a food business is substantively failing in some aspect of food hygiene.

Thanks for the replies.
I am looking into doing the course but as i only have one child at the moment and they are just after school care then i would like to do some baking as i know they would really enjoy it.
Thanks again
