    Default Hatching Chicks

Has anyone done this? I know schools sometimes do it. I looked online and there are companies who supply all the gear and the eggs and collect the chicks after they have hatched but they cost around £200. Any ideas?

[I] have done this a couple of times. once i borrowed a friends incubator, the next i put fertilised eggs under one of my own broody hens, both time were a success. But I certainly would not pay that sort of money to do it the children did enjoy every stage and when using the incubator, the day they started to hatch you couldn't do a thing with the children as they were glued to watching the hatching chicks, Brill

I would love to do it. I know the kids would be fascinated. My dad used to raise hens when I was a kid.

You can buy fertilised eggs from any breeder. A google search will bring them up.

this is something I've always wanted to do, but have never been able to afford it and don't know anyone who has an incubator/equipment I could borrow. Just thinking though, do you 100% have to have the expensive stuff, or could you somehow make your own that would work?

Next best thing for me is hatching butterflies - this is my third year of doing that (much more affordable and equally as enjoyable!)
